Build sentences that say what you mean.
Use the following routine as a starting point. Adjust the difficulty to the learner’s current level and school requirements.
- Start with a subject and a verb: “She reads.”
- Add information: “She reads a book every evening.”
- Change one feature at a time: “She read a book yesterday.”
- Check meaning, tense and punctuation after writing.
Try this
Change “He go to school every day.” into a correct sentence.
Explanation
“He goes to school every day.” With he/she/it, a simple-present verb normally takes -s or -es. Compare “They go” with “He goes”.
Make practice purposeful
Keep the task short enough to finish thoughtfully. Ask the learner to explain a choice, identify one improvement and try again. Progress is easier to notice when the task and the feedback are specific.
