SUPPORTING LEARNING AT HOME
Agree what the device is needed for before beginning a task. A video, quiz or dictionary can be useful when it serves a clear learning goal. After using it, ask the learner to explain or attempt something without the screen. Reduce avoidable notifications and keep the next step visible so the session does not drift into unrelated browsing.
A practical starting point
- State the learning purpose
- Choose one relevant resource
- Pause to explain or practise
- Close unrelated tabs
What to notice
Judge usefulness by what the learner can do afterwards, rather than time spent watching alone.
Review after trying the approach
Ask what became easier, where support is still needed and what to try next. Keep a small sample and compare it with the earlier attempt. Adjust the plan in response to the learner rather than repeating an unhelpful routine.
What could you ask TRICEF?
Contact the team with the current class, board, teaching language and a specific learning question. The team can explain current programmes and the support that may be suitable.
